The comparison of the young Osama to the man of today is to compare the Middle East of 40 years ago to today, Africa of forty years ago to today, America of forty years ago to today. If change is inevitable how can one determine if it is positive or not? Saul became Paul and preached grace to the gentiles. Yet Paul also warned the gentiles (and the jews) that grace came in an acceptable time and year, to take it while it was offered, to not treat it as a light thing or they would be punished as Judah and Samaria had been. (Thessalonians II ch. 2-1-12, Luke ch. 4 16-21, Isaiah ch.61) Osama serves God, the God of Justice and Mercy and Compassion. It is apparent that the love of God must be as great for the Arab, the Columbian, the Venezuelian, the Cambodian, as it is for the American. Only something alien in spirit to the God of Abraham could maintain differently (See Isaiah ch.55- 56, Micah ch. 3) For the person of faith to evaluate the change in any society or man is to hold it up to the mirror God has to offer. Does America act with justice in the world? If your answer is yes do you know what the other 95% of the world sais in response to the same question? For an individual without the lens of faith navigating in a complex world can be a matter of location with out reference to where you are. A ship at sea on a moonless night.

Vivance,

Nice post. I found this particularly amusing....

"Luke wrote that the beloved disciple leaned up against Jesus like a child leans against his father. Why would anyone want to hide the identity of a disciple by leaving them unnamed unless the person in question was the child of a person condemned to the cross and, therefore, likely to be sent to the cross as well?"

Jacobovici made this remark? Are you kidding me? My amused, semi-outraged response pertains to the following.....

"Luke does not make any mention of a disciple leaning up against Jesus, much less like a child."

Very true. But I think what Jacobovici is referring to is the Gospel of John, where JOHN is clearly the "beloved disciple" or "the disciple whom Jesus loved" who reclined on him at the Last Supper table. John gives himself this distinction as is backed up by accounts in the other Gospels. The fact that Jacobovici uses this argument as an expert is laughable, because he can't even cite the right Gospel for his argument and address the obvious textual objections that are raised by his remark. I'm sure the hundred or so Evangelical apologists working diligently on their rebuttal books have already noted this fact too.

Peace to you in Christ,

Perhaps that's where I should move? If doormats are the biggest threat, I'm all for not having one :) I don't understand how they have the authority to take away the resident's doormat though. I can see public places, but private homes should be at their own risk...no?

You two have the BEST stories!! LOL! That first "incident" reminded me of my years at Nyack. Only instead of it being 8 AM, it was usually around 2 AM and the smell of burnt popcorn lingered in the air once you were allowed back into the dorm. Good times.

And darn those batteries! It's not too often ya get to be that close to a helicopter!

Perhaps I could persuade Mom into letting me hang out one weekend (pshaw...right!!?) when King Tut will be around! I LOVE mummies! When I was in Colorado in 2004, I used 10 minutes worth of tape time on my video recorder on one mummy....just zooming in and out and up and down. It was awesome to see it live, but it's another thing to watch that same mummy from every blessed angle...for 10 minutes on tv...LOL!

I >i?LOVE M. Night Shaymalan's movies and can't believe I haven't seen this one yet. I do however own the children's book written by M. Night that you might wanna check out at Barnes & Noble. Narfs are only the beginning ;) There are grass wolves and a giant eagle that have funky names as well. He made up this story with his kid(s) as a bedtime story. He says they're scary story junkies just like him.

You have such a great memory!!! I forgot about Pinky! I loved the Animaniacs and would love to get that DVD collection for Christmas :)

How odd...

I actually out-geek you by a couple of percentage points. I really thought you would fall somewhere in either the Extreme Geek or Geek God.

You have shattered my image of you. ;)

Oh, wait. You're not allowed to preach, since you're a female. Ummmm...
